The islands of the archipelago

The islands of the archipelago

The La Maddalena Archipelago is made up of some sixty islands and islets, suspended between Sardinia and Corsica in the Strait of Bonifacio. The main ones are La Maddalena, the only inhabited island and connected by ferry, and Caprera, tied to the memory of Giuseppe Garibaldi. Around them lie Santo Stefano, Spargi, Budelli with its famous Pink Beach, Santa Maria and Razzoli: a mosaic of wind-sculpted granite, hidden coves and waters of incredible colours. From Porto Rafael they are all reachable in just a few minutes' sail.
The most famous beaches

The most famous beaches

The archipelago is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. The Pink Beach of Budelli, with its coral-tinged sand, is a protected icon that can only be admired from a distance. Cala Corsara on Spargi, Cala Coticcio — Caprera's "Tahiti" — and the beaches of Santa Maria enchant with transparent waters and pale seabeds. These are fragile and precious places: many coves are subject to regulation to protect their nature, and it is precisely for this reason that they remain unspoilt.
The Park rules

The Park rules

Since 1994 the entire archipelago has been protected by the National Park of the La Maddalena Archipelago, which regulates access to preserve its ecosystem. To sail, anchor and stop in the Park's waters an access permit with a fee is required, with rates that vary according to the length of the boat and the season. Some areas are strictly protected and off-limits. We recommend checking the up-to-date rules, rates and payment methods on the Park's official website before setting off; the Marina staff are, in any case, on hand to help you.
